What "mouth-blown" actually means
Mouth-blown means a glassmaker shapes each piece by blowing air through a long steel pipe, called a blowpipe. Here is how one glass is made:
1. The maker dips the pipe into a furnace and picks up a blob of melted glass on the end.
2. They blow gently while turning the pipe, and the blob inflates like a balloon.
3. They shape it with simple hand tools and gravity - no machine mold.
4. One glass, start to finish, made by one pair of hands.
At the Meso Goods workshops, the starting material is 100% recycled glass - old bottles melted down and given a second life. That is why the glass carries a soft smoky or greenish tone inside the material itself. It is not paint or a coating.
Why the bubbles are the point
The tiny bubbles you see inside mouth-blown glass are pockets of air, sealed in while the maker worked. Factory machines are built to remove them. Hand work keeps them.
Those bubbles catch the light, which is why a handmade glass seems to glow on a set table. And because no mould forces the glass into a perfect shape, each glass in a set ends up very slightly different - a little taller, a slightly thicker rim, a small shift in tone.

How to spot real mouth-blown glass when you shop
Three quick checks:
Bubbles. Tiny air pockets inside the glass. Machines leave none.
A small mark on the bottom. Called a pontil mark - the spot where the glass was snapped off the blowpipe. A machine-made glass has none.
Slight differences between pieces. If every glass in a set is identical to the millimetre, a machine made it.
Caring for it
Nothing complicated. Hand wash with warm water and a soft sponge, and the luster finish stays deep and bright for years. What you get back: a cabinet where every single piece is genuinely its own.
